Broadway Camp

This summer, Maclaine was part of a Broadway camp.  She had a great time and met some really fun people.

These pictures were taken at the end of their performance on the last day.

We went to dinner afterwards to celebrate!

For some reason, I couldn't get the red-eye button to work but I still loved all these pictures so I posted them.

Getting a serious picture of these two is almost impossible!!!

This was the best I could do!

Summer Quilting Project 2012

I started making blankets when my friend Kristi had her daughter....ummm, 20 years ago!!!  CRAZINESS!  Anyhow, over the last 20 years I've probably made about that many blankets or more.   I hadn't made one for Maclaine for about 5 years so we decided one of our summer projects would be to make her a new one and this time she was going to pick out the fabric and help make it.

She started off really strong....she helped make quite a few of the strips.  Then, she got bored and momma took over.  We had this great idea to make her room kind of bohemian after we bought an orange printed pillow at World Market, which is why there are bright colors intertwined in it.  As I write this today, we turned a totally different direction and decorated her room very neutral.  Oh well, she still has a super soft, cozy blanket.

All done!!!

Quick California Trip!

My dad and Lin had planned a California trip and wanted Maclaine to go with them.  They were going to be camping on the beach in their trailer and making a trip to Sea World.  They had invited me as well but I thought that this would be a really great time for them to spend some quality, alone time with our girl.  Also, I snore like a bear (according to my husband) so I didn't want to scare everyone in the trailer :)

I got a text from Clainey the morning they left saying she was super excited but that she had a tummy ache.  I, of course, was a little concerned but figured it would pass.

I got a text right around this time, saying that they made it and it was beautiful!  She was excited!

Papa Fred and Clainey

I got a text at 3:00 am saying she wished I had come and that she had been up all night with tummy problems.  I felt so sad for her and immediately got out of bed a nervous wreck and starting praying.

They got up that morning and headed to Sea World hoping that she was all better.

I was so happy that she was feeling better!

After Sea World, I got a text from her saying they were having dinner and that she had been having tummy problems again.  That night she was up again throwing up and just feeling terrible.  I talked to her that morning, she tried to be strong but eventually told me that she just wanted to come home.

So, they all headed home :(

I still feel bad that their vacation was cut short.  I'm so happy that Maclaine at least was able to have a great time at Sea World and make some memories there with her Papa and Grammie Lin.

This was when we met them to pick-up our girl, it was so good to see her and give her hugs.

4th Grade Grand Canyon Field Trip

The big field trip for 4th grade was to go to Grand Canyon.  I put my name on the waiting list of chaperone's the day we went to meet the teachers before school even started.  I wanted to make sure that I would be in attendance on this overnight trip.  Not only did I want to go to experience the Grand Canyon with Maclaine but I'm a little bit of a control freak and want to be the one in charge of my girl.  Guess what?  I was the first name on the list, so I got to go!

We met at the school Thursday night around 10:00 p.m, which is already past my bedtime.  Then the charter buses ended up being an hour late.  The goal was to sleep the night away while the bus drove us up North.  We ended up parking somewhere up there to "sleep" and change drivers before the park opened.

I had this fabulous idea to take Benedryl so that I could sleep through all the loud kids on the bus.  Well, lets just say that there was very little sleep going on in between the kicking of my seat and kids just being super excited to be having a sleepover on a bus.  Needless to say, I never got to sleep the benedryl away so I was a walking Zombie by the time we got there.  I don't do well without my sleep :)

The sites were beautiful!

It was SOOOO stinkin' cold!  This momma wasn't prepared.

Our next stop was Yupatki National Monument

Clainey girl was starting to not feel so well right about here...

"Mom, I wanna go home."

She was really feeling yucky here.  Her friend CJ was trying to comfort her.

Although, I'm super happy that I was given the opportunity to go on the field trip, it ended up being the never ending field trip.  There were many, many stops that the buses made.  We stopped at The Grand Canyon, Yupatki National Monument , Sunset Crater, which we stayed in the car for this one because Maclaine was doubled over on my lap not feeling well and 2  souvenir shops.  For tired parents and tired-sick kids this made for a very LONG couple days.

PHEW, we made it!
Love her!
Once we got home, the stomach flu came on with a vengeance...poor baby.
