The big field trip for 4th grade was to go to Grand Canyon. I put my name on the waiting list of chaperone's the day we went to meet the teachers before school even started. I wanted to make sure that I would be in attendance on this overnight trip. Not only did I want to go to experience the Grand Canyon with Maclaine but I'm a little bit of a control freak and want to be the one in charge of my girl. Guess what? I was the first name on the list, so I got to go!
We met at the school Thursday night around 10:00 p.m, which is already past my bedtime. Then the charter buses ended up being an hour late. The goal was to sleep the night away while the bus drove us up North. We ended up parking somewhere up there to "sleep" and change drivers before the park opened.
I had this fabulous idea to take Benedryl so that I could sleep through all the loud kids on the bus. Well, lets just say that there was very little sleep going on in between the kicking of my seat and kids just being super excited to be having a sleepover on a bus. Needless to say, I never got to sleep the benedryl away so I was a walking Zombie by the time we got there. I don't do well without my sleep :)
The sites were beautiful!
It was SOOOO stinkin' cold! This momma wasn't prepared.
Our next stop was Yupatki National Monument

| She was really feeling yucky here. Her friend CJ was trying to comfort her. |
Although, I'm super happy that I was given the opportunity to go on the field trip, it ended up being the never ending field trip. There were many, many stops that the buses made. We stopped at The Grand Canyon, Yupatki National Monument , Sunset Crater, which we stayed in the car for this one because Maclaine was doubled over on my lap not feeling well and 2 souvenir shops. For tired parents and tired-sick kids this made for a very LONG couple days.
PHEW, we made it!
